Should You Ride Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers?
Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers is a strong next step for riders who are comfortable on smaller coasters and are ready for more height, speed, and a new ride sensation.
The forward trip feels like a smooth modern family coaster. The bigger challenge comes when the train reaches the opposite end of the course and travels through the entire layout again backward. There are no inversions, and the forces stay manageable despite the coaster reaching about 37 mph.
Best For
Riders who handled Woodstock Express comfortably and are ready for a larger, smoother coaster with more height and the added challenge of backward travel.
Biggest Fear Factor
The backward return.
You experience the entire course forward first, but on the return trip you can no longer see each hill and turn approaching.
CoasterSchool Take
Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers fits Level 2 because it adds a meaningful new challenge without becoming an aggressive thrill coaster.
The roughly 75-foot height is a noticeable step up, but the smooth modern track, moderate speed, and lack of inversions keep the physical experience approachable. Backward travel is what makes this a meaningful progression beyond Level 1.

DID YOU KNOW?
Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers opened in 2024 as part of Kings Island’s Camp Snoopy expansion. It uses Vekoma’s Family Boomerang design, allowing the same compact track to create two very different experiences: once forward and once backward.
FORWARD AND BACKWARD
Unlike a traditional coaster that completes its course and returns to the station going the same direction, Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers uses its track twice.
After riders travel through the layout forward, the train climbs the opposite end, stops, and then travels through the same hills and turns again in reverse. That lets the relatively compact 672-foot track provide roughly 1,400 feet of total travel.
Maximum rider height: 80 in.
What Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers Feels Like
Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers feels noticeably bigger than Kings Island’s smallest coasters, but its smooth track and family-focused layout keep the forces approachable. The backward return is what makes the experience feel different.
The Starting Hill
The train is pulled high above Camp Snoopy before beginning the forward run. The height creates more exposure and anticipation than Woodstock Express, but riders have plenty of time to see what is happening.
The Forward Run
The first trip through the layout is smooth and quick, with rolling hills and sweeping changes of direction. Riders can see the track ahead, making this the more predictable half of the experience.
The Reversal
At the far end of the course, the train climbs upward, loses speed, and comes to a stop before changing direction. The pause gives riders a moment to realize that they are about to experience everything again backward.
The Backward Return
The train travels through the same layout in reverse. The physical forces remain manageable, but not being able to see each hill and turn approaching makes this the defining Level 2 challenge.
COASTERSCHOOL RIDING TIPS
Tips for a Better Ride
Seat Choice
Because the train reverses direction, no seat stays at the front for the entire ride.
- Toward the front: Gives you the clearest view of the track during the initial forward run.
- Toward the back: Becomes the leading end of the train when the coaster travels backward.
Body & Restraint
The modern family-coaster train provides a comfortable seated position while still keeping riders secure through the direction change.
- Sit naturally against the seat and allow the restraint to be secured according to ride operator instructions.
- Keep your body relaxed rather than trying to anticipate every hill during the backward return.
During the Ride
The backward half usually feels more intimidating because riders cannot see each element coming.
- Remember that you already traveled through the exact same track during the forward portion.
- There are no inversions, and the reverse trip does not introduce a surprise larger drop.

Where Do You Go From Here?
Coaster progression isn’t a checklist. Choose the next ride based on what felt comfortable, or what still felt intimidating.
